Surrender to Soul

The Facts of Life

Back in the 80’s I was watching a show called the Facts of Life. Do you remember that sitcom? Every now and then a mash up of the lyrics from the theme song pop into my mind as a form of guidance and reminder that, “When the world never seems to be living up to your dreams it’s time you started finding out what everything is all about”. It directs me to surrender to Soul.

This may serve as an entry point for a spiritual quest. Along this path one discovers that, “You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life”. At that point you decide, “There’s a time you got to go and show you’re growing now you know about the facts of life.”

Full circle you realize, “When the world never seems to be living up to your dreams and suddenly you realize the facts of life are all about you.”

Not to worry though about your place on the journey, “It takes a lot to get ’em right, when you’re learning the facts of life.”

Balance and Harmony

There are times we take a giant leap forward and then realize we need some time to land. After falling or being knocked down, we need some time to regain our equilibrium. Whenever we veer off course, we need to recalibrate. Anytime we go in deep, we need to come back up. Any of this can feel a bit disorienting, as we find our way firmly planted again going in the right direction. It’s a process of re-centering and restoring balance. I spoke about some ways to find your center and re-orient your compass in the right direction in last week’s article Centering with a Simple Practice.

From a strong centre, you can be in harmony with your natural rhythms and move through life with more grace and ease, and a fuller presence.

Surrender to Soul

As Spiritual Beings we look to spiritual wellness as a path to inner peace and contentment. As an Empath who feels everything and feels it deeply, it can seem very overwhelming right now. Inner peace and contentment seems quite elusive.

The process of awakening can feel scary. This is a time to allow for healing and integration of new energies (or activating dormant ones). There has been a huge shift in our perception of reality- what we thought we knew to be true to what actually is. How do we make sense of it all?

You may feel very ungrounded without proper integration. The process of awakening is a deeply sacred time. Surrender to soul to integrate extreme changes. As Soul provides guidance for next steps, proceed slowly and gently. In other words, don’t try to control your direction or push yourself too soon. Instead, take inspired action and allow spirit to guide you in the direction you must go.

Gathering Spiritual Strength

Spiritual strength is gathered each time you move through change. Think of it as a portal or a rite of passage into something new. Something greater than anything your fearful self could have imagined.

Recognize that times of chaos and overwhelm, are only temporary. Accept this is just what is happening in your life right now. The more you can lean into it and be present, the easier it will be to move through it. This type of awakening can use up a great deal of energy so don’t be surprised if you find yourself tired or even exhausted. The low energy only speaks of unborn potential. Rest with it and give it the space it needs to develop into a greater reality.  Be open to the spiritual power coming back to you.
